On October 3, 2009, the veil was lifted on the skateboard heartland’s new 17,000 square foot, beach-side, skatepark. The park was designed by the Wormhoudt team. Man, I wish I coulda been there opening day. Now a reason to get back to SoCal. Enjoy this little clip:

New Skateparks by Wormhoudt Inc.

Here are a couple parks designed by Wormhoudt that are currently in the planning stages—one in Eureka, CA and another in Saginaw, MI. Congrats to both cities. Eureka had a bit of a teaser a year ago and we are sure they are totally stoked that this is finally going to happen.

One of the best parks ever

For those who haven’t been to Lake Cunningham Regional Skate Park, you should really do yourself a favor and get there! Whether you consider yourself old, youth or an old youth, this park is sssicK. You may even need more than a day to really get to know this beast. Here are some vids that will give you some food for thought.

Whats Wormhoudt Been up to?

Well, the Wormhoudt team has been busy building parks—not only for skaters—but beautiful transitions none-the-less. In early July 2009, the 30,000 square foot Mosqueda BMX park opened (said to be the largest cement BMX park in the U.S). I guess since Wormhoudt Inc. did build the world’s first public skatepark in 1974 and many of the worlds best skateparks, we can be happy for the BMXers. On the other hand, has anyone skated this beast at an off time? The egg shaped cradle looks nuts.
